A Unified Voice on Agricultural Nutrient Issues
The ANPC seeks a balanced approach to environmental policies and regulations that will ensure the agricultural sector’s ability to produce safe and abundant supplies of food, fiber and fuel while promoting a sound environment.
Currently, legislative, regulatory and non-governmental organization (NGO) activities, including legal action pertaining to nutrients in the environment, are taking place at the national, regional, state and local level. Revisions to the Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) rule, the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) and the development of numeric nutrient criteria in Florida and other states have already begun to impact members of the agricultural community. ANPC is a broad and unified effort to bring together the right legal, political and regulatory expertise to ensure that agriculture’s voice is heard when complex and often highly technical issues are addressed by Congress and federal agencies.
Addressing policies and rulemakings which will fundamentally change how agriculture is treated under the Clean Water Act (CWA) will be a primary focus for the ANPC. The ANPC’s goal is to bring together the expertise needed for agriculture to effectively address the wide range of complex issues involving agricultural nutrients and the environment.
